Thanks for your replies to my query.
I decided in the end to stick with 4Gig partitions instead. The main reason
being is that the 'no split' option within the ata3.prefs program for the
PowerFlyer would not actually save the setting and insisted saving it as
'split' :-/
Anyway, like I say, I made do with that and have proceeded to format the
drive and copy information across to ease the strain on my existing hard
disk. Things went well, I got all my MP3's copied over and most of my
already recorded material to another 4gig partiton (recording from the
radio via the Soundblaster - thats why I want big partitions)
So after copying the MP3's over I decided to just check they played back
fine before deleting them off the other disk and this is where all appears
to have gone wrong :-/
The Mp3 are not playing back correctly on the new hard disk - they appear to
be skipping, warping, echoing, speeding up, slowing down and generally
doing everything in their digital capacity to annoy the heck out of my
ears! However, If I copy the file back over again to the old hard disk it
also copies the file back with all the clicks, bumps echos.. etc.. :-/
I am running the Directscsi version of PFS3 (v18.5 iirc) and have got the
File system block size set to 512. The settings for both drives are
identical. (DOpus:L/PFS3ds)
Oh, it isnt just MP3 files this effects - it also stops jpg images from
displaying correctly and mov/avi files refuse to play or crash me if they
do :-((
Anyone got any ideas what may be causing this or could it just be a duff
hard disk?
